HL7007 is a compact, flexible, efficient, USB-compliant switch-mode charging management chip, suitable for single-cell lithium-ion and lithium-polymer batteries in various portable applications. Charging parameters can be programmed via the I²C interface. In a micro CSP package, the HL7007 integrates a synchronous PWM controller, power MOSFET, input current detection, high-precision current and voltage regulation, and charging cutoff functionality. The HL7007 provides complete automatic three-stage battery charging control: trickle charging, constant current charging (CC), and constant voltage charging (CV), until the battery reaches the charging cutoff voltage. The input current is automatically limited to a value set by the host. Charging is terminated based on battery voltage and user-selectable minimum current. Additionally, it features a safety timer with reset control, which can provide a safe backup for the I²C interface. During normal operation, if the battery voltage falls below an internal threshold, the IC automatically restarts the charging cycle, and when the input power is not properly connected, the IC automatically enters sleep mode or high-impedance mode. The charging status can be reported to the host via the I²C interface. During the charging process, the IC monitors its junction temperature (TJ) and reduces the charging current when TJ rises to around 120°C. The HL7007 supports USB OTG devices by boosting the battery voltage to provide VBUS (5.0V) output.
