Message

The HL7019 is a fully integrated switch-mode Li-ion battery charger with power MOSFET, power path management, I²C interface and USB On-the-Go (OTG) boost function. It can be used with single cell or multi-cells in parallel Li-ion and Li-polymer batteries in a wide range of cellphones, smartphones, tablets, power banks, and other portable devices. Its switch-mode operation and low-resistance power path maximize charging, discharging, and boost efficiency. It also reduces battery charging time and extends battery life during the discharging phase. This device supports a wide range of input sources, including standard USB host port, USB charging port, and high-power AC-DC adapter. It supports an input operating voltage from 3.9V to 14V and can power up the system rail without a battery. It can automatically adjust to the maximum power output of the input source via the input dynamic power management control (INDPM).
HL7019 is a fully integrated switch-mode lithium-ion battery charging IC, featuring power MOSFET, power path management, I2C interface, and USB On-The-Go (OTG) boost functionality. It can be used for single or multiple parallel lithium-ion and lithium polymer batteries, suitable for various mobile phones, smartphones, tablets, power banks, and other portable devices. Its switch-mode operation and low-impedance power path maximize charging, discharging, and boost efficiency, reducing battery charging time and extending the battery life during the discharge phase. The device supports multiple types of input sources, including standard USB host ports, USB charging ports, and high-power AC-DC adapters. It supports input operating voltages from 3.9V to 14V and can power backend systems without a battery. It can automatically adjust to the maximum power output of the input source through Input Dynamic Power Management Control (INDPM). Whether or not an I2C host is present, HL7019 can autonomously manage the complete charging cycle of lithium-ion batteries. It automatically detects battery voltage and charges the battery through four stages: trickle charge, pre-charge, constant current, and constant voltage. When the battery is full, it automatically terminates charging and restarts the charging cycle when the battery voltage falls below the charging threshold. For batteries with short-circuit protection, it can provide a float charge voltage to the battery terminals before charging begins to reactivate the battery. Its I2C interface allows programming of the chip's charging parameters through communication with the system. When the I2C host is unreachable, HL7019's built-in watchdog timer stops charging after a timeout to ensure the safe operation of the battery. Even in the case of battery short-circuit or no battery, when an external power source is plugged in, HL7019's built-in low-impedance power path management circuit allows the backend system to power up immediately. In battery operation mode, when the system load demand exceeds the power provided by the external source, HL7019 enters battery assist power mode. HL7019's power path management system also provides a system reset function by disconnecting the battery while grounding the power, achieving system reset after a certain period. The USB OTG boost function provides a programmable 3.5V to 5.5V or 9V boost output from the battery at the VIN port, supporting currents up to 2.1A. HL7019 integrates comprehensive protection mechanisms to ensure the safe operation of the battery, including monitoring battery temperature through a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor, charging safety timer, over-voltage, and under-voltage detection. The device also provides output over-current protection and regulates its on-chip junction temperature (TJ_REG) to 120℃ by adjusting its charging current.
